Zeidland

Welcome to my world! I always thought it would be fun to be the ruler of my own place, and now I can be! I see it as an island within a big city full of life, culture and lots of laughter. Consider yourself a citizen.

Coolest toy!

Believe the commercial! There is a little genius inside this thing!

A new twist on an old game. It is just an amazing computer program that knows nearly everything. It figured out a rainbow, a hammer, a moose, potato, cucumber, rocking chair and even an anteater. You just answer its 20 questions and after it toys with you it tells you what you have indeed been thinking!

Posting hiatus

I will be traveling to Harrisburg to judge the Ad Club of Central PA's Addy Show. I have decided not to bring my computer, which means, unless I come across another, I will be taking a short time off from posting.

Enjoy the break. This goes for Arngee too.

See you on the 30th!

The sun sets in the west

Sunset over Waikiki beach.

And this is about as far west as you can get in the United States.

O'ahu underwater

As much as there is to see above water in Hawai'i, there is a whole other world below the surface.

Hanauma Bay is an extinct and sunken volcano that over a few years turned into a reef and fish sanctuary. It is primo snorkeling when in Waikiki. It is between Koko Head and Koko Crater on the eastern side of the island.

Trust me, it is worth swimming with these fishes!

Aloha from Dukes!

Dukes is a must dine/drink when in Waikiki. it s named for the famed surfer who put Hawaii and Waikiki surfing on themap. With great beach views all day and great sunsets in the eve, you need to have yourself a nice cold waterfall by mixologist Jason and enjoy the Aloha entertainment of the strolling three-piece group!

You will be sure to leave with a smile on your face!

Luau

A luau is a huge party with a feast.

Germaines luau is one of the best in O'ahu. The circus starts with the pig being unearthed from the ground where it slow cooks for nearly fourteen hours.

Here the cooks are throwing off the ot rocks and lifting the pig from the ground.

After the luau, the lines are long at the lua, the bathroom!

Don't Try This at Home!

Diamond Head is a must see when on the island of O'ahu. As Craig and Corie have never been, I returned too.

A sign greeted us at the beginning of the trail. Number one and two on this sign were 1: Wear comfortable walking shoes and 2: Bring water. We were able to buy some bottled water for the trek, but as you can see in the photo, we all chose sandals and flop flips for our hike!

I remember many steps and not such a long walk fourteen years ago. Corie asked if there were boulders on the mile plus walk up to the peak, I assured her there wasn't. It ended up being quite the hike, at the top it decided to rain. The rain was refreshing but it was the rather windy conditions that made the rain feel like small needles that made us take whatever cover we could find at the summit!

On the path there is a tunnel you pass though maybe three quarters of the way up. On the way down I was a bit naughty. As we passed a group of people, in said tunnel, we were coming down, they on their way up, I waited just long enough and then yelled ahead to Craig saying "Should we tell them it is closed?"

Hawai'i?

Just fine thanks for asking!

And so was Hawai'i. Conference went well, for an academic conference. Weather was great, yesterday was absolutely amazing.

So anyhow, this is the view from the Pali Lookout. It was the scene of a battle where the losers went over the edge. You will have to indulge me over the next few days as I share more views of the island of O'ahu, the Gathering Place.

Aloha!

I will be presenting my thesis, Money: The Branding of a Country Through the Design of Its Currency, in Oahu on the 11th. The conference runs through the 14th but I am taking in some sun starting Saturday!

I may try to post if I can from the middle of the Pacific, but then again, I will be in the middle of the Pacific! I will be back on the 15th with lots to share I am sure!

Aloha!

OX has a friend

Uglydog likes to help.
He helps Jeero operate the rope tow and helps OX help himself to different types of snack foods.
He thinks you could use some help.
Isn't that sweet? Bowow?
Uglydog is the ultimate pet too.
He won't fetch the paper for you, but he'll make your day feel like the front page story!
Uglydog doesn't really like to sit or fetch or roll over and all that stuff. Beg? No thanks. What he really likes to do is stand on his tail and live out his big dream…
To be just like you!!!
Except for the waking up early part.
But wait, where's his collar?
Hint hint!

Cookbook for designers and people who like to cook!

The creation of the book "Art & Cook" can be described as a Revolutionary Movement. The publication draws a correlation between food and art in a manner that is thought provoking, masterful and avant-garde.

As the lengthy titles imply (and don't be overwhelmed by these), the recipes in this book are complete meals, and the instructions are written simply and effectively to facilitate even the unseasoned cook. The sections of the book have been laid out to enable the reader to enjoy a complete dining experience - like laying a table - beginning with the mouth-watering appetizers and ending with rich, sumptuous desserts.

Porcini Mushrooms with Mascarpone and Herbed Ricotta Stuffed Zucchini Flowers are just a few of the delightful creations gracing the appetizer section, while for dessert, there's Baklava and Espresso Parfait with Meringue Chunks.

Not to be outdone are the stunning works of art that complement and sometimes mirror the food presentations. The works of some of the world's most famous Surrealist and Dadaist artists are visually altered for dramatic effect; inanimate objects eerily resembling prepared dishes are featured; and new bold works of art are presented for the very first time (see art references).

"Art & Cook" is not your ordinary cookbook. It's a totally satisfying and fulfilling experience.

And it is a cool butt-kickin' designed book too!
