Welcome to my world! I always thought it would be fun to be the ruler of my own place, and now I can be! I see it as an island within a big city full of life, culture and lots of laughter. Consider yourself a citizen.

Almost forgot, I haven't told you about KA, the third Cirque show I saw in Vegas.

KA is more a theatrical production than your typical Cirque show. There is a very clear narrative story of twins separated and their journey back together. One twin takes a journey underwater, on the beach, through a jungle. The other stays very land bound, through dark trails, dealing with the elements including fire. There seems to be an emphasis on the story telling and less on the Cirque-ness of the show.

There were some very Cirque moments. First the stage is the star! It turns, rotates, goes vertical, drops out of view, is a boat, a mountain, a cliff. The performers are all over the stage and we see scenes from above as they move on the wall tethered as the wall is vertical! There is an amazing acrobatic act that uses the wall vertically and swing on pegs coming out of the surface (actually arrows shot at the heroes).

The other highlight was the boy twin and his mentor being very small in front of a fire, the stage turned vertical behind them and them performing hand shadow puppets against the wall! It was a simple yet truly an amazing element of the show.

Oops! Almost forgot! There is a wonderful flying maching that comes and flies out over the audience, while the other twin performs trapeze-like feats!

Everything production-wise was stellar, staging, lighting, costumes, theatre, sets, everything. But as for the acts of wonder you want to see from Cirque, I feel it fell a little short. The acts that were a part of the show were very much every bit Cirque, there just wasn't many of them.

What exactly does KA mean? Is it just a made up word/symbol for the show?

I do not know. I know they often brainstorm sounds that have the right tone or feeling to them when they name the shows. Then they create a meaning and story of it.
