Welcome to my world! I always thought it would be fun to be the ruler of my own place, and now I can be! I see it as an island within a big city full of life, culture and lots of laughter. Consider yourself a citizen.

The longest journey starts with a single step!

Electric bills are supposed to be going up soon here in the Chicagoland area. I said that when my light bulbs need to be replaced I will with the mini fluorescent bulbs.

Here are some facts:
• 2 bulbs cost $8.67 with tax
• They say I will save up to $77 per bulb
• Each 23 watt fluorescent bulb = 100 watt regular bulb
• 1600 lumens is the light output
• 23% energy use of regular light bulb
• 10,000 hours of life

There is also a 9 year warranty on the package per bulb with the disclaimer of the bulb being used on average for three hours a day. I have put the receipt in a file and will report back in nine years if the bulb lasted.

I guess this is my part of saving the world.

I tried these before. In closets. They do last forever. Maybe they have improved but the lighting is not that great.
