Welcome to my world! I always thought it would be fun to be the ruler of my own place, and now I can be! I see it as an island within a big city full of life, culture and lots of laughter. Consider yourself a citizen.

California Dreamin'!

In light of everything America did right this past Tuesday, they also got something wrong!

CALIFORNIA PROPOSITION 8
This initiative measure is submitted to the people in accordance with the provisions of Article II, Section 8, of the California Constitution.

This initiative measure expressly amends the California Constitution by adding a section thereto; therefore, new provisions proposed to be added are printed in italic type to indicate that they are new.

SECTION 1. Title This measure shall be known and may be cited as the “California Marriage Protection Act.”
SECTION 2. Section 7.5 is added to Article I of the California Constitution, to read:
SEC. 7.5. Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.

Proposition 8 passed. The results were 52.5% Yes or 5,417,748 votes; 47.5% No votes or 4,907,867

What the hell are California residents afraid of?

I guess a long journey DOES start with a single step. Thankfully, America did take that first GIANT step Tuesday by electing Barack Obama!

I heard a great comment the other day about the fact that most american's who don't want to legalize gay marriage are old. thank goodness they are dying off. sad, but true. progress will be made... i am hopeful!

the comment was made on Stephen Colbert's show... i have a link on my blog.

Late comment: I doubt it will hold up in court. Nothing in the Constitution or any of the state constitutions (that I'm aware of) gives the government the right to forbid two people from marrying for other than medical or fraudulent reasons. And even medical reasons are very strict. The courts have already struck down laws preventing interracial marriage, marriage of mentally challenged or disabled couples, etc., and have affirmed that the government doesn't have the power to enact or enforce such laws.

Tiffany's right too. This will all go away in the future. Too bad some people have to put up with it now.
